OUR CLASSROOM
CLIMATE

A refreshed primary school climate programme for OCC, inspiring children to understand sustainability and take positive environmental action.

OVERVIEW

OCC had a suite of climate change resources used in primary schools but wanted to refresh them to better inspire and engage children. The ambition was to create an innovative, child-friendly programme aligned to the English national curriculum and positioned as a companion to the Department for Education’s sustainability and climate change strategy. The programme needed to support teachers, pupils and parents alike — raising awareness of sustainability within local communities and motivating children to take positive environmental action.

ACTION

To spark imagination and encourage behaviour change, we led a full rebrand centred on storytelling. We created three engaging virtual facilitator characters and designed a series of interactive, bite-sized lessons delivered in a flexible microlearning format, accessible across devices including interactive whiteboards and mobile. Working closely with subject matter experts, we transformed existing content into custom animations, quizzes, activities and practical investigations that teachers could combine to build tailored lessons. Drawing on our in-house education expertise, we also developed comprehensive teacher guides with key questions, suggested lesson sequences and extension activities to support confident facilitation.

IMPACT

The programme has received highly positive feedback from schools and stakeholders. Early responses highlight the engaging learning experience and its ability to motivate pupils to think differently about sustainability within their communities. OCC are now exploring opportunities for translating the programme into multiple languages.
