OVERVIEW
Plan International developed a new six-module course on Gender Transformative Education in collaboration with UNICEF and UNGEI. As a trusted framework supplier, we were commissioned to design and build the course in English and French, with Spanish added later. With multiple stakeholders and limited prior experience in e-learning development, the client also relied on us to guide the overall process and delivery approach.
ACTION
Working across three organisations, we aligned branding to create a cohesive dual-branded look and feel, primarily based on Plan’s identity with selected UNGEI elements. Given the density of the content, we led a detailed content and learning design phase to improve clarity, flow and engagement while preserving key messages. We developed a broad range of creative assets, including infographics, short case study animations, illustrated characters and supplementary publications to streamline the core narrative. To enhance user experience, we replaced locked navigation with optional prompts that alert learners if content has been missed. For localisation, we created a detailed glossary to ensure accurate and consistent translation into French (and later Spanish), working closely with Plan at key review stages.
IMPACT
The course launched on Plan Academy and UNICEF’s Agora platform, reaching a global audience. Strong uptake led to additional funding to expand into Spanish, which was completed in September 2024. The programme now exists as a fully trilingual, globally accessible learning experience supporting gender transformative education worldwide.
